Connections for Women Features Arizona's Ben's Bells Creator as their Extraordinary Woman
Tucson, AZ (PRWEB) April 3, 2008 -- Connectionsforwomen.com is showcasing one of Tucson's own treasures, Jeanette Mare-Packard and Ben's Bells, in the Extraordinary Woman featured category.
Six years ago, after Jeannette and her husband lost their 3-year-old son Ben suddenly due to illness, Jeannette wanted to do something in Ben's memory that would give his heartbreaking and untimely death a positive meaning. Then it came to her: bells out of clay. Ben's Bells. She wanted to give back the kindness that was shared with her and her family during this tragic loss. Six years later, Ben's Bells has become a thriving non-profit organization that distributes hundreds of bells (all lovingly hand made and painted by volunteers) each year to those who have shown exceptional kindness in their community. Jeannette describes Ben's Bells as a "social change" organization and states their mission is to "inspire, educate and motivate each other to realize the impact of intentional kindness and to empower individuals to act according to that awareness, thereby changing our world." Other communities in far reaches of the country are now interested in taking the Ben's Bells project to their communities. And the memory of little Ben lives on in the recognition of kindness in others.
