New Exhibition: California Dreaming Group Show at Rare Device

(PRWEB) March 17, 2008 -- New Exhibition: California Dreaming Group Show at Rare Device

Exhibition dates: April 4, 2008 - April 27, 2008; reception date: April 4, 6-9 p.m.

San Francisco design store and gallery, Rare Device, is proud to present California Dreaming, a group show of artists from the Beholder (www.beholder-art.com). The show will occupy the Rare Device gallery and the front left window from April 2 - 27, 2008. A reception for the artists will be held Friday, April 4 from 6 - 9 p.m.

California exists to many as the final frontier of the American Dream: a madly optimistic mash up of inspiration, absurdity and pioneer spirit. If there are rules of engagement, not many people follow them. There is a struggle here to define and change oneself, but in every mythological promise there is a reality exposed in the California sun. Through California Dreaming, the nine participating artists will share what it's like to live and make art in California.

Participating artists include Timothy Buckwalter, Mike Monteiro, Jennifer O'Keeffe, Scott Barry, Eric Scheib, Suzanne Husky, and Lisa Congdon of San Francisco and Noaki Mitsuse and Martha Rich of Los Angeles.

The Beholder is a San Francisco-based online gallery that features affordable works from over 60 artists in the US, UK, and Canada. Started in 2005 by Suzanne Shade, its mission is to attract a wider audience for emerging talent and to encourage new collectors to own and enjoy original art.

Rare Device is a store and gallery that features functional experiments and original ideas in art, design, craft and fabrication. Owners Rena Tom and Lisa Congdon constantly seek out objects that are beautiful, evocative, well constructed and thoughtful. We are pleased to bring to our San Francisco store an ever-growing roster of local, national and international artists and designers for a truly "rare" experience.

Rare Device (www.raredevice.net) is located at 1845 Market Street between Valencia and Guerrero Streets. Store/gallery hours are Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday, noon to 7 p.m., Thursday noon to 9 p.m. and Sunday noon to 6 p.m.
